Sandoval County residents potentially shut out of care at SRMC

If you have UNMSCI state insurance, your are not allowed to use it, at the new Sandoval County Regional Medical in Rio Rancho according to officials with Molina Healthcare. “The new medical center in Rio Rancho is not covered by us and to receive services they have to go to the main UNM hospital on Lomas Blvd in Albuquerque,” said a Molina official who wouldn’t identify themselves. The Molina official added as it is contracted from the State of New Mexico and all they do is administer the program. Molina officials said that patients can receive services from First Choice Health. UNM SRMC official Troy Clark said that the program is accepted at the facility. “The prescriptions can be filled at Walgreens and Smith’s stores,” he said. Officials from both stores said that Clark’s story is incorrect, and they couldn’t speak to anything else.
